From the Dyeworks this week: new supply of 100% merino 8ply -- Australian and unplied dk NZ (non-mulesed) hand-paints.

This hemp and wool blend is all natural - not processed with nasty chemicals - and knits as a 5 ply, 6sts/1". Milled for Stranded In Oz, it gets softer and more lovely with wearing and gentle washing care.

Recycled Sari Silk (30%) and Wool (70%) - 50 gram hanks - unbelievably soft and pleasant to knit with.

Both of these yarns are unplied and resemble working with unplied Icelandic wool.

Also available: hand-painted, unplied laceweight -- handspun in Nepal as well. Fuzzy, soft, and natural. You will love it. This yarn is like a pencil roving -- so if you're learning to spin, it's great for drop spindle practice.

Chuppah Whorls Spindles: check out the latest colours! They go like the wind and not too heavy, not too light. $25.00 including a puff of wool to get you started. Hand made in Port Adelaide - Proudly South Australian.

SARI SILKS -- in wild greens and reds multis. Go wild with the best (I'm biased) sari silk in Adelaide.

Also available: New Soy Colour -- Beet Queen (semi-solid deeeeep RED), a soy version of McLaren Vale (vineyard colours), and a winter, darker version of Semaphore (see Banana Smoothie Bag)

In Stock: the Emerald City Triangular Shawl kit featuring hand-painted yarn from Knitting By Zen. The kit features custom-dyed yarn (the colour was designed for this shawl), needles, exclusive pattern, stitch markers, and a pewter shawl pin.

Soy DK: mossy-ish green (subtle shade), PURPLE! (Phantom) and a dusty ROSE. This is in addition to the hand-painted skeins in stock. Some wild, odd experimental hanks of new soy colours  that coordinate with the semi-solids.

Remember: Don't stress the hand-paint purchase! Buy a big hank of hand-paint from SIO to coordinate with your stash.  Think of it as a way to get rid of your oddballs.  *wink*

And why do I stock A-grade sari silk and banana silk?  Both are gorgeous and hand-spun in Nepal for Stranded In Oz. This is the good stuff, not the hairy, sheddy stuff you might find at a bargain store. Each hank is unique. Why? Because while I love the stuff, I didn't have any designs for it. Both fibres have been inspiring new designs and ways of using these unique yarns.

Tofutsies@ Sock Club: The Sock Club yarn for JUNE is here -- it is wild!  Postage is free to Australian Club Members.

See the fibre info link to stranded blog at the left for more artisan yarn details.

Artwear:

The Potter Vest, featuring a rare yarn painted by Cheryl Potter. It was a real find, and alas, a lone skein, so I've hand-dyed coordinating fibres and knitted them into a vest together. Materials: cotton, cotton/silk, soy, and viscose.

Above, the beaded edge of a new shawl called Jitterbug Perfume, worked in hand-painted merino with Japanese glass beaded edging - $150.00 custom orders only.

The latest soy vest is SOLD and I must admit to struggling to keep up. I'm taking orders to ensure happy customers. If you're wanting one for the colder weather, please contact me on strandedinoz AT gmail DOT com. Each one is unique.

Pictured below: A black freeform vest in soy yarn, featuring an off-centre stripe at the back. Sold with its own vest pin.

Repurposed Vest in mohair/wool - apologies, the pictures doesn't do it justice. This medium-size vest is soft and comfortable, with purple and plum knitted trim. Comes with its own matching pin.
