Stranded In Oz Club Packs Are Go!

Well, the packs are ready to ship — Feb is the start of the SIOz 2011 club subs. Thank you to everyone who has subscribed. If you are still procrastinating, that’s ok. There are a few packs left for February ready to go. And if you change your mind, I’m happy to make sure you aren’t left out, one way or ‘tother.

First, for the Knitters: the Feb Sock is… BHM Tofutsies – an eyelet and twisty stitch concoction to keep you occupied during the heat of Feb and March. The original was done far in advance of the dye schedule. You’ll notice the first red run was a bandana-type red. Kind of rosey, but it didn’t say SUMMER to me, so I have gone with:

It’s not orange really, and it’s not scarletty red. It’s quite peppery. Hachaaa.

Wand more? You’ll just have to sub to get all the details!

For the Spinners, this month’s fibre is a comfy, squidgy wool/mohair blend. The merino combed top is still on the schedule, but was crowded out for first spot by this lovely fibre that said, dye me first!

So, here’s a Way Over the Rainbow for Feb – ‘Dark Matter’

There are a few packs of this dye lot still available, though I’m not sure for how much longer. I tested it the other day and it spins beautifully — very lofty, very smoooooth. mmmmmmmmm. This rainbow is on the blue/green side, while last year’s was red/purple dominant.

Other Fibre and Spinning: I’ll be loading the latest lot of merino/lyocel combed top, a darker lot of Woodland Creatures, a colour I painted last year. This fibre is very sleek, very soft, and makes great sock yarn. The lyocel is a green product, spun in the UK from wood pulp. Also available online are more colours of the fab Kraemer Maunch Chunky Roving. Sure, we have lovely carded fibre right here in Oz, but I couldn’t resist the colours and blends the guys at Kraemer cook up. If you like them, there will be more colours on the way, as I’ve noticed they have a few new REDS.

For sock knitters, besides the Feb club installment, there are new hanks of Hand-Painted Tofutsies in a new colourway, Dark Orchid. It’s a killer.
