Stitches Fair at Beating Around the Bush

Stitches Village Fair, Wednesday April 18, 2012, 10.30am – 4pm at Immanuel College, 32 Morphett Road, NOVAR GARDENS SA 5040. Fair Entry: $5.oo. My booth is outside the auditorium, next to the church, near the food and drink vendors on the footy oval.

This fair is in conjunction with the Beating Around the Bush International Stitchery show sponsored by Country Bumpkin. I’ll be featuring lighter-weight yarns and fun stitching and knitting items, including the newest yarns and designs.

For Easter Holiday, SIOz at the Port Markets will be open, Sunday and the Monday public holiday, April 8 and 9 from 9AM to 5PM.

In honour of the holiday, I’ll be running the annual Easter Egg (yarn hank) Hunt! This year — there will be hidden hanks of yarn with special labels — and of course, as always, discounts and prizes. One hank per customer per day. This year, the discount vouchers are good for the Easter Weekend, for regularly-priced stock only. That said, we will have EFTPOS available.

And this year, the big prize? A DISCOUNT VOUCHER FOR 1/2 OFF A HIYAHIYA INTERCHANGEABLE NEEDLE SET! If you already have a needle set? Still makes a great gift! There are both the SHARP metal and bamboo sets in stock.

The Port Market Sunday Shop is getting it’s much-needed overhaul — so come on down and check out what’s in and ready to grace your needles and hooks. Several yarns will be on sale to make way for the autumn and winter new yarns.

For Spinners: Be the first to spin and ply your fibre and post a picture in the SIOz Ravelry group or email it to me and get a double pack of fibre April!
For Knitters: Finish your Practically Magical Socks and post a picture in the SIOz Ravelry group or email it to me and get a double shot of yarn for April AND a Hiya Hiya circular needle for sock knitting. Your socks have include all the elements of the pattern as written.

note: for the sock knitter’s prize, since we’ve already got A FINISHED PAIR, I’ll award 2 First Prizes for the knitters. Why? Because the newbies didn’t necessarily know how the club prizes work. So, come on, there’s room for another pair of socks for winning some yummy yarn!

Dec 2011 Newsletter:

Dear Stranded In Oz Customer! Thank you to each and every one of you for
your business this year. We continue to be proud of the yarns, fibres, and
designs that are SIOz.

Your continued support inspires me and keeps the whole woolly enterprise
thriving. This year, my partner, Richard, has decided to start calling me
Shippy (yup, that’s sheepy hippy). Rather than take offense, the name is
growing on me. I say, the more Shippies the better! Here’s a photo of Dec 2011′s Calamity Jane Red in a wool/alpaca/nylon blend.

The 2012 Knitters’ and Spinners’ Clubs are in the works for 2012. The colour
inspiration, while always Oz-inspired, will also be A Good Yarn Yarn –
great quality yarns inspired by colours from favourite stories. Some may be
familiar to SIOz fans, and some are entirely new. The packs will reflect the
themes of each story. Stay tuned.
