For gemstone spindle queries, please email or ring for current stocks. SIOz handmade spindles are Gemstone (lightweight spindles that are great for spinning medium to fine yarns). Most have handmade Tassie oak shafts and crafted hooks. The gemstone spindles have adjustable whorls to suit the spinner. Each wooden shaft is carefully sanded, coated with a primer, re-sanded, then finished with a polyurethane coating for durability. If you'd like a custom, handmade silver or copper hook, please make a note in your order details. I advise customers who live outside Adelaide to order their spindles with just the regular hooks, as they are easier to replace if they get damaged and can't come in for an SIOz tune-up (yup, if you're unlucky, it can get dented or crushed in a spindle bag, or a heavy fall). Each SIOz spindle is rigorously tested; I take great pride in my gemmies. If you have a favorite stone, I can try to source one for you to make a special spindle.
