April Club Packs Are Go!

Well, I’m back in beautiful Adelaide and in time to send out the April Club Packs.

No spoilers here as they are still winging their way to their destinations. Thanks again to all the subscribers who knit, crochet, and spin with our yarns and fibres. It’s truely a privilege to work the way I do.

We’ll be at the Port Markets this holiday weekend, both Sunday and Monday, which is a public holiday. Come on up to check out what is on offer — there are new Soysilk® yarns in stock, hand-painted by Stranded In Oz. Beautiful yarns to knit a Party Wrap, or perhaps something like an all-season t-shirt or skirt!

March and Stranded In Oz

First, a big thank you to the people at SWTC, Inc. and Yarnzone. I had a wonderful time with the beautiful Jonette and the incredibly SWTC yarn and customers. A big thank you for their support of my fibre art and humble huge thanks to the customers who bought SIOz from Yarnzone!

Here are some pictures of what they saw when they visited us!

Can’t wait to see what gets knitted from all the yarn! Especially excited to see what the new Party Wraps look like knitted in SWTC and SIOz yarns.

The Party Wrap is in this new issue of YARN Magazine. Stay tuned for information on the yarns used to create your own Party Wrap!

And finally, check the previous blog post for contact and ordering while I am on the road. Will be back in Adelaide in a few weeks. But, in the meantime, be sure to check out the website or the Port Markets on Sunday for Stranded In Oz!

February and Stranded In Oz

Hello and Welcome. February for me means travel. I’m in America for Stitches West. You’ll find me at the SWTC booth! Come by and say hi!

If you are in Oz, the Port Markets SIOz Sunday Shop is open 9-5 every Sunday. While I am out and about, Richard or Eric is there to mind the yarn and fibre. If you have any detailed questions, please don’t hesitate to email me – I generally answer within 24 hrs of your inquiry, though when I am on the road, it can sometimes take a wee bit longer.

Keep a lookout for my new patterns in the next Issue of YARN Magazine, March 2014. There’s surely something to inspire you! No sneak peeks yet!

The first club packs have gone out for February — they included 100gm of Hand-Painted Jezebel, knitting needles, stitch markers, tea, and a pattern to make Elves and Fairies. If you didn’t subscribe for the year or part one, be sure to make a note in your calendar to join for Part II. The best way to get a sense of what the clubs are like is to join the Stranded In Oz Group on Ravelry and join the conversation.

Here’s the skinny:

Stranded In Oz Subscriptions for 2014!

This year I’m combining two passions in one – KNITTING and SPINNING (you know, fibre-related obsessions) with… COOKING! That’s right…

So, knit, crochet, spin, cook (or get someone else to do it for you, hint hint) and be happy. Each club month will include a recipe (sometimes with a knitter’s theme – of course). This means food chatter, particularly for those of us who like to knit and be social, will be greatly encouraged.

Recipes, food hints, photos, reviews, general food and craft chatter will be most welcome. Only one rule — no food police. That is, some of us have dietary restrictions for all sorts of reasons. I expect an environment of tolerance and good cheer, so no food Scroogin’ :D. I expect diversity given the varied and wonderful people who subscribe.

1) A 15% club discount for all members on regularly-priced SIOz products– Thank you for your enthusiasm for SIOz yarns and fibres!

NEW THIS YEAR: Refer a friend for a subscription and you will get 20% for your club member discount. ALL YEAR. Just indicate your friend’s name in your order note when you order.

2) Packs will have at least 100 gms of Stranded In Oz’s unique hand-painted yarn or fibre, a project pattern, and a goody, AND a recipe.
3) This year’s offerings, will have at least one HiyaHiya goody. Why? Cuz they’re cool, useful, and you like ‘em. You say so!
4) Packs will include tools like stitch markers and tools, depending on the packs. I get asked a lot for the stitch markers and, for the most part, they’re only available to clubbies
5) New Yarns and fibres (sometimes EXCLUSIVE to the clubbies, like last year’s merino/silk sock – ooooh!)
6) Old faves – yarns and fibres (because you are so awesome and are kind enough to send feedback) 7) Additionally-purchased items to your club pack orders do not incur additional postage (bargain!). So, remember – if you want to knit a jumper and order a mountain of yarn, there’s no additional charge.
8) Opportunities to get BONUSES during the year for knitting with SIOz yarn, especially club yarns. To be announced.
9) The service you expect from Stranded In Oz. Whenever something does go wrong, on those rare occasions, we do our best to make it right.
10) And of course, last, but never least, F.U.N.

Note: be sure to ‘like’ strandedinozyarns on Facebook if you are on there. I’m generally logged on when I’m in Oz, especially, so it’s the fastest way to get a hold of me. That, and email to melissa AT strandedinoz DOT com :D

If you have any questions regarding subscriptions, please contact me. And thank you to everyone for asking about the club subscriptions for 2014. Your feedback and support make my work what it is.

August Club and Traveling SIOz Update

Wild Friar Tuck

Wild Friar Tuck

Hello from the USA — I’m on the road for the US Autumn, but things are generally running as usual in Ozland! That includes the August shipping of yarn and fibre for the SIOz Merry Band of Knitters and Spinners!

This month’s yarn is Glinda, the Good Wool! And the club pattern is a special edition of Sock Star, a KIP bag pattern that’s rather detailed and entertaining to knit.

Sock Star Bag!

Sock Star Bag!

Special thanks to the fabulous knitter, Judith Rocklyn, for sharing her FO picture! Isn’t it a little beauty? You too can be a Sock Star! and knit one of these bags. There’s a basic version available from SWTC here.

I am heading to the East Coast to get ready for two shows: the KDO, an awesome even, and on of my favourite fibre shows, Finger Lakes Fiber Fest!

As always, should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us!
